EuroVelo is the European cycle route network – 17 long-distance cycle routes that cross and connect the continent. It is the largest cycle route network in the world, spanning over 90,000 km when completed. The development of EuroVelo leads to safe and continuous cycle routes, serving as the backbone for national and regional cycle networks. It can be used by long-distance cycle tourists, as well as by local people making daily journeys. EuroVelo is developed and coordinated on the transnational level by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) in cooperation with a network of National EuroVelo Coordination Centres (NECCs). It is an initiative that fosters sustainable transport and tourism policies.
