Cycling events can be a first step towards creating an appeal for cycling in a community. Be they grassroots gatherings or world cycling summits, these events have the power to increase visibility and promote cycling in all its forms. In this fast-paced session, the focus is on the impact that a diversity of cycling-themed events has on cities, rural areas, and the promotion of the bicycle overall.

Eva D'haene is working for the city of Deinze since 2013. She has had several chances and opportunities during the last 11 years which she has taken with full enthusiasm and love for her home city. Since 2022 she is the dynamic head of the department Events & Tourism.

Pinar Pinzuti is on a mission to encourage more people to cycle. She works for Bikenomist, writes for the magazine Bikeitalia, organizes the Cycle Tourism Show, and coordinates “Fancy Women Bike Ride. She is an ambassador of WIC - Women in Cycling and member of the Eurovelo Council.

Eva is a Velo-city & Events Programme Officer at the European Cyclists’ Federation. She is mainly involved in the programme development and speaker coordination of the ECF’s annual summit, the Velo-city conference that brings together the global cycling community and is co-organized with a different host city each year.

I work for DGI, Denmark’s second largest sports organization with almost 2 million members. Particularly with event management and as head of Denmark’s largest cycle race. I have a master’s degree in physical education combined with media studies. I am a passionate cyclist myself and recently went to Nice to try the 20. Stage of the Tour de France. (not very fast though).
